In 2004, the Audubon Branch YMCAs goal of extending its programs and services to low-income families in the Borough of Norristown became a reality with the start of the STRONG program.
STRONG, a grant funded program, meets the needs of the Norristown community with programs such as summer day camp, after-school activities and family recreation.
After-school homework help, cultural programs, and Y Achievers are making a difference in the community giving young people a place where they can learn life skills.
"My goal is to be better at math and my times tables. The STRONG program has helped me with this," Tyler , past STRONG participant.
"The STRONG program has helped me learn how to be non-violent, and find good ways to solve problems. I have made good friends here, and we have a good time together," Eric, past STRONG participant.
STRONG's programs include:
Afterschool Homework Helpers
Y Achievers
Y Aquatics Career Training
STRONG Creative Dance & Creative Drama
STRONG Art Club
Camp STRONG
Adventure Guides
Youth and Government.
